New Version of Truck-Safe Navigation Modernizes Driver Interface, Adds Enhanced Planning Features
LAS VEGAS, September 16, 2024 — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today the latest version of Trimble CoPilot®, an in-cab commercial vehicle navigation solution, with a major refresh of the user interface and all-new predictive parking and trip planning functionalities. This major update to CoPilot aims to enhance fleet efficiency by creating safer and more-predictable journeys for drivers.
Rich with Trimble’s proprietary commercial mapping data – including location intelligence from its over five million commercial vehicle-specific locations – the new version of CoPilot combines a modern and intuitive driver experience with the Trimble PC*Miler® routing algorithm and Trimble’s robust commercial vehicle location database. Added functionality for the new version of CoPilot includes:
- Improved Display Options: New landscape and portrait modes provide a more-flexible experience for drivers using tablets, so they can see the road as they prefer.
- Information at a Glance: More data – including trip details, maps and route information – are displayed always-on to enhance safety by eliminating the need for drivers to interact with or switch between multiple screens.
- Map-First Application: A high-resolution map display provides drivers with additional visual cues and the ability to switch between various display options, including satellite imagery and 3D buildings.
- Predictive Parking: North American customers receive live parking insights within CoPilot, including peak hours and predicted availability, to help drivers plan efficiently before arriving at a location or truck stop.
- Enhanced Trip Planning: Transformative trip management provides recommended break locations between a driver’s origin and destination based on real-time data, including facility operation hours, HOS-compliance, average facility dwell times and other applicable amenities.
- Additional Improvements: Android Auto infotainment system compatibility creates seamless integration with native vehicle applications.
“We’re proud to unveil the new CoPilot – our most robust version yet,” said Rishi Mehra, sector vice president of commercial mapping and routing technology at Trimble. “This marks a significant milestone in Trimble’s commitment to deliver precise navigation and ensure safety on the road. Providing drivers with real-time, truck-compliant route guidance is crucial to moving the essential goods we all rely on. Simply put, CoPilot keeps trucks and freight moving – smoothly, efficiently and predictably.”
Availability
Trimble CoPilot will be available via the Google Play store mid-October 2024. Availability across Trimble’s wide range of fleet telematics partners will be ongoing.
