Trimble Announces 2021 Viewpoint Construction Award Winners
Contractors Honored for Overcoming Challenges, Using Technology Creatively and Growing Exponentially
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 16, 2021—Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today the winners of the annual Viewpoint Construction Awards, which recognizes the accomplishments, perseverance and growth of North American construction organizations over the past year.

Awards were given in three distinct categories:  most challenging project, most creative use of Trimble Viewpoint technology and most exponential growth in a year, which evaluates how technology has helped companies grow their projects, processes and people over the course of a challenging year for the industry.

"This has been a year of comebacks and growth as the construction industry adapts to the pandemic and impacted projects. This year has also highlighted our industry's strength and perseverance," said Matt Harris, vice president and general manager, Trimble Viewpoint. "The 2021 winners exemplified perseverance under difficult circumstances, using technology to help them scale and deliver projects with efficiency and speed despite the challenges brought on by Covid-19—from renovating a retirement community during the height of the pandemic, to helping contractors meet the increased demand for housing."

The 2021 Constructions Award Winners are:

Most Challenging Project: VJS Construction Services — Renovating Saint John's on the Lake, Milwaukee, Wisconsin

VJS Construction Services renovated Saint John's on the Lake retirement community during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, breaking ground in March 2020. The renovation included constructing a new 23-story tower and demolishing and reconstructing a three-story health services building. The site was sandwiched in between two buildings with just two inches to spare on either side, and the pandemic created a host of issues working within an occupied senior living campus. Viewpoint ERP software helped VJS Construction Services successfully manage the $105 million project financially, enabling the company to easily track invoices, billings, subcontracts and document control. Watch a video of the award winner here

Most Exponential Growth in a Year: CSCI — Navigating COVID-19 and Coming Out On Top, Florida

When the housing market took off at the end of 2020, CSCI, a structural shell contractor based in Florida, used their specialized expertise, long-standing vendor relationships and innovative technology to significantly scale and grow the business, creating 65% more home units through April 2021 as compared to the previous April. Looking ahead, the company expects to build 5,000 units in 2021. Viewpoint ERP software was selected for its built-in APIs that enable the software to be integrated across the business, helping to drive efficiencies and automate manual functions that were inherent to the company's legacy financial system. Watch a video of the award winner here

Most Creative Use of Trimble Viewpoint Technology: Basic Resources, Inc.  — Customer Self Service Portal, Modesto, California

Basic Resources, Inc. developed a self service portal that enabled its customers to have real-time access to search and view their invoices, tickets, order details and account balances, in addition to being able to make online payments all in one place. The portal was developed using Viewpoint ERP software, helping to improve customer service while also reducing administrative time and costs for the company and their customers by allowing everyone to work off of the same information in real time. The portal proved especially instrumental during the pandemic as it eliminated paper-based processes and provided remote access regardless of one's location. Watch a video of the award winner here

The awards were open to all contractors across the United States. Winners were selected on a point-based system mapped to criteria pertinent to each category, including: delivery under difficult circumstances, project complexity, company growth rate and the impact of technology on project outcomes. The panel was made up of previous award winners, including the Haugland Group and DP Electric, as well as select Trimble Construction executives.

"Technology was instrumental to Haugland Group's success in 2020, providing efficiencies and time savings when it was most needed," said Haugland Group Safety Director Mathew Murphy. "Technology was clearly the lynchpin for this year's winners as well, allowing them to adapt and thrive regardless of what was thrown their way. It was an honor to be a part of the judging process and evaluating the commendable projects, which truly represent the strength and resilience of our industry."
